This all seems like a really bad idea and I'm surprised it's even being entertained. I know UALR has tried to become more of a traditional college, but it's still a commuter school and most of it's students have no interest in supporting a basketball team; much less a football team. Despite what some of you seem to believe, I'm sure the UA is still very dependent on Central Arkansas fans and so I really doubt that they'd want UALR to field a team.
If UALR did field a team, they'd probably have to steal some UA fans just to fill the stands. Most UALR students are UA fans first, for example. Also, I suspect that Central Arkansas funds the UA much more then some of you want to believe. And while the effect on recruiting wouldn't be huge, there would be an effect and it would hurt.
Not sure what prompted this thread, but UALR is what it is and there's nothing wrong with it. If it ever becomes more then it is now, then it'll come at the expense of the UA in many ways.
I'll close by mentioning Kiehl and Josh Frazier, Lee Ziemba and Kodi Burns, who I know aren't the only players to leave NWA in recent years, but they're the one's that come to mind now.
