It's really not at all. All of the in-state talent (and there's not a ton of it) is Nashville and West. Tennessee has to recruit nationally to compete for championships and Knoxville, though large and nice is also out of the way.

It's very similar to Arkansas' situation.

Nashville is getting to the size and caliber in HS sports that it's becoming a reliable recruiting ground (Barnett, Phillips, Jennings), Memphis is solid although it's largely Bball. Then we're close to ATL which is great and we can go into the Carolinas and Virginias as they are all very close. I don't think it's on par with Florida, Cali, or Texas, but it's definitely in a favorable location.
