I dare say we will never see the likes of Hershel and Bo again. Amazingly they came along at almost the same time.
What seperated them from other backs in history?

Size- both 6-1 around 230
Speed- both in the 4.2 to 4.3 range
Strength-EXTREME lower body strength that enabled them to literally run through you without slowing down.

The closest thing I ever saw to them may have been George Rogers (wasn't SEC during his days) without the speed tho. You probably have to go outside the SEC to Earl Campbell and even he was like 4.6 guy if I recall.
