Texas is not an easy fix or anyone especially someone like Kelley.

Exactly.

And think of the pressure Kelly would be under. If he isn't winning the Big 12 by year two they will see the hire as a flop.

They are in a bad place right now that takes some time to get out of. If they try to get the hot coach he will just burn up in the grease fire. They are better off trying to find the Mike Sherman or Butch Jones out there who will build up things for the next guy. If they reset the clock every couple of year because "we're Texas, we shouldn't be this bad EVER" then they will never get ahead.

I am honestly hoping and expecting Charlie to beat OU this weekend, it is what needs to happen for Tan Fran to be complete.

Remember, it wasn't that we hired Fran that made that situation so bad. It is that we gave him a shitty extension too soon for a shitty trip to the cotton bowl.

Charlie could beat OU, end up with around 5 wins, and then keep his job another year.

After strong they will need a Shermanesque hire to lay groundwork

They are 2 coaches away from being a problem to us

I don't want them to hire Tom Herman or Charles Edward "Chip" Kelly. Either of those would be a good hire, IMO. Chip would be a big splash, Herman is actually good and destined for greatness.

I want them to hire someone like Dabo or William James "Bill" O'Brien, who have built up programs elsewhere but probably don't understand just how bad of a situation - in terms of talent on-hand and in terms of the recruiting landscape - they'd be walking into. Competent, but un-splash guys who'd try to do it their own workman way and collapse under the immense pressure to win NOW at a program that absolutely can't do that immediately.
