There is no such thing as a slow burn in Austin. Still wish it was a slower decline, but by the looks of no improvement from the bowl game to Saturday, they are in freefall.

Hope they put a double digit win against the owls.
Hope they get into the BXII schedule and get some wins, maybe over oklahoma. Keep the casual longhorn fans sated and blind to the bigger picture.

If they get blown out this year Strong has another year at best.

The absolute best thing that can happen for us at this juncture is for us to keep winning high profile games and the sips to be mediocre. I love seeing then get blown out, but if they think they're on the cusp of turning things around, they will keep kicking the proverbial can down the road instead of fixing their problems sooner.

i think strong is a good program builder. i've always liked him as a coach, whether i agree with everything he does or not.

coaches have to try and win the way they know how, every coach doesn't do it the same way.

that said, i think if strong gets all 5 years then he will have built a winner in austin, maybe not a top 10 type team, but his way of doing things is just slow and pragmatic, maybe a little overbearing.

he developed some of his more hardline philosophies because the type of players he's recruited over the past few decades, in south florida specifically, probably needed it. now he's in texas and it looks like overkill.

i'm with you, they aren't going to be that great next year either. if he doesn't win 8 or 9 games next year he's gone.

if they let strong hang around long enough, he will put a program together. that's what i'm afraid of. he builds things to last, even if it takes a while to do it.
