while what you said isn't technically wrong, I suspect more of the "silt problem" comes out of all the east Texas runoff that comes all the way from lakes Conroe/Livingston and down to the San Jacinto bay or whatever it is you cross on I-10,, that's some really crappy water and it comes out in Galveston bay.
