Those Bama players are on campus for 3-5 years, while Newton was at Auburn for barely a year since he was a one and done JUCO player. In 3-5 years, a player can be developed into being much better by the coaches. But in just ONE off-season/ spring and fall practices only so much developing can be done. Gus deserves some credit for Newton and he did use him right but most of the credit should go to Newton since he was already a great player to begin with. Same could be said for guys like Cooper and Julio for Bama.
