You guys put way too much stock into a players FR or SO years. Too critical. Look at players like Retin, Levi, Mikhail Torrence, CHUCK DAVIS, and several others. They were flat out bad when they got here but ended up being major contributors by the time they left Alabama. I think Coleman could have been that kind of player.
We need to pump the breaks with this mentality that we can scoop up one and done players like the blue bloods that can be major contributors from day one. We could get there, but not overnight.
I think our football success clouds our judgment when we are talking basketball.
With that said, we need Daniel Giddens. I've seen him play and it's just what we need.

Success breeds success. I don't think anyone on staff with the basketball program is striving to build a team that middles in the SEC and is a bubble/NIT team each year.
We're building for Final Four banners and National Championships. That's the goal. Will they get there this year, next year, or anytime in the foreseeable future? Probably not, but you have to start somewhere and you have to TRY.
I'm not down with the attitude that pushing for championships is "clouded judgment".

It appeared to me that Coleman lost his confidence. Could he get it back? Possibly, but it's a moot point now.
The truth is we don't really know what Collins can do either. He seems to have a nice shot, which is what we need, but he also looked to have a high dribble. We'll see if he can keep up his TO/assist and TO/steal ratios in the SEC. Last year they were both pretty good.
The PG prospects for '17 look solid. I like where we are, getting guys that fill needs for next season and having the scholarship available for 2017. That's just my preference and no offense to Coleman. I also believe that Coleman and AJ Jr. probably have similar skill sets. No need to have two undersized backup PGs on the same roster right?
Anyway, I agree with the guy that says we'll be better, but so will the competition. Hopefully our improvement will show up in the win-loss column.

I agree with q couple things besides the football stuff. You can't compare either at all. Levi wasn't bad at all when he first got here, neither was Restin, and probably not Mikhail either but Gottfried wouldn't play him.
