So, what you're saying, t-sip, is that scholarship limits had ZERO effect on the type of talent one school could bring in verses another? Is that your argument?
I want to nail this shite down right fricking now. Your argument is no scholly limit = same talent level, right?

I'm not sure exactly what you're going for there, but A&M did have talent during those years, I remember one guy from my high school went there and on to play for the Cleveland Browns.
There's a Dave Campbell's Texas Football article floating around somewhere about A&M having a top recruiting class in Texas during that era. Of course, it landed you on probation in the late 60s.
So yeah, you 20-something fools who keep saying that A&M couldn't compete for players before the days of unlimited scholarships are full of shite.
Your school sucked at football, even though it had several advantages.

That's unbelievably funny to hear these days.
How's recruiting going? Y'all going to get those 4 non-qualifiers in before the season?

We need more Texas posters. The whole LSU thing feels forced. This guy really sounds like he doesn't like a&m.
Continue.
FWIW I really don't like A&M, I also live in Austin and Ms. DS is getting her Masters at UT.

Bull fricking shite. You are so full of shite.
Do you remember The Junction Boys? Started with, what, 100 players? Ended with?
Just because we pulled in the occasional player doesn't prove a damn thing. We had what amounted to a roster full of warm bodies and you fricking cocksuckers know it.
Please tell us what the other "advantages" we have had. I would like to know.

Aggy mad. Aggy weally, weally mad.

Let's review the aggie excuses for their suckitude, and why they want to limit their history to after scholarship limitations:
Little military school, no one wanted to come here and play! (Army was ranked No. 1 in 1958, finishing No. 3, and had a Heisman winner. Navy finished No. 2 in 1963 and had a Heisman winner.)
The t-sips had unlimited scholarships and we could not compete! (Texas A&M had more scholarship players than other SWC schools at points in the 1960s).

Well (you brought this on yourself, buster), other advantages A&M had during the Junction Boys era and into the 60s:
As we saw in the movie (and the book), moneyed boosters who were willing to pay for players.

In fairness to them, they do have possibly the ugliest campus I've ever seen in my life.

...BUT HAVE YOU SEEN THE BARBER SHOP?!
Posted on 7/10/15 at 2:35 pm to texashorn
And A&M won the natty in 1939.
How are the service acadamies doing now? What changed? Just because the United States Military and Naval Acadamies were successful during wartime, does not mean A&M could be successful. They are apples to oranges.
How does this help your argument?
A small, all-male military school in Texas could not bring in the talent or coaching needed to compete.
But, can we talk about all of the fricking longhorn built-in advantages?

You are on an SEC board because your program sux.
You try to get respect by coming on an SEC board to troll about who had the biggest dick 50 years ago.
Why don't you spend your time helping your midget coach pawn off more season tickets to add to the 45,000 numbnuts who bought them (only 45,000 ? lmao).

There was no war going on in 1958 and 1963, you dumb cluck. Keep spinning, you look like an arse.

This thread went to shite in a hurry.
Here ya go Texashorn: Texas has historically been a better program than A&M. Congrats. You won. Carry the banner. Fly the flag high. Yes, in the modern era it was a relatively close rivalry, but, overall, you guys won. Good work!
The interesting thing is the role reversal here. A&M, a university that treasures tradition and its past, is looking towards the future, while the 'storied' program of UT is looking back to its past for glory. I wonder what caused that?
Be sure to replay those great 60s and 70s Thanksgiving games while you're driving to Waco, Ames, the Little Apple, Stillwater, and Lubbock. Hold on to those memories tight, while your rival across the Red River is considering distancing themselves from y'all.
Bless your heart.

Okay. You tell us why A&M sucked 60 years ago.
This should be good.
While you are at it tell us why tu sucks NOW.

A&M lost the best defensive recruit in the State to a Big12 program.

You have probably never been to a game in College Station.
If you ever come to the SEC's and Texas' CFB largest stadium you will be treated a helluva lot better than LSU treats their visiting fans.
