Not gonna read this whole thread. The nationwide consensus is probably the Iron Bowl. What this thread says may be something different, though. Both are great rivalries.

You would be wrong. Michigan OSU is known nationally, Auburn Alabama is a regional, state-level rivalry, because Auburn has such a tiny fanbase and tiny influence.

The states of Michigan and Ohio are both top ten in the country in population. And both UM and OSU are the major sports teams in each state.

Michigan and Ohio AS STATES are rivals, beyond football. They went to fricking war for crying out loud. OTOH, both Aub and Bama are in the same sparsely populated state that, let's be honest, is not that influential or populous.
