Not sure how much I'd expect LSU's QB play to improve given the way Les has structured his offenses, but I know for a fact the defense will suck under Steele.
I still have no idea how he got the job.

The defense will be in the top of the SEC and top 20 nationally. 
If we get competent QB play, book me a hotel for a playoff game.

He is a filler, and everybody knows it is Ed's job sooner than later, but Steele will stay on board to coach Linebackers.
