I've actually noticed that sweet tea is getting far too sweet lately. I don't remember it being sweet to the point of instant diabetes when I was younger, but most places I go nowadays just overdo the sugar. I generally order half sweet/half unsweet, and the waitstaff is usually very understanding about that. I suspect that means I'm not the only one who has noticed a marked increase in sugar in sweet tea over the last few years.
Oh, and lemon is a must for me. No more refreshing drink on God's green earth than a properly sweetened tea with just enough lemon to give it the barest hint of fresh tart citrus.

The only sweet tea is tea that had sugar added when it was hot everything else is pussy tea. And a lemon is a must to give it that perfect taste.
