i just don't know if going to college, even vandy, is worth the risk of potentially losing millions of dollars in guaranteed money out of high school.

Its a personal decision. If you really are that good, you goto school, have the time of your life, earn a badass degree, and still get drafted early and get paid. You're much more likely to get to the majors quicker as someone out of a college so its not like your losing time to start the clock for more money.

Yup. Short answer is Vandy education + current Vandy alum in the majors (esp pitchers) + Corbin.

Wrong. If you're good enough out of HS, you will in most cases move faster than someone who spends three years in College. In 2011 the Blue Jays drafted Tyler Beede in the 1st round and Daniel Norris in the 2nd round, both top HS pitchers. Beede didn't sign and went to Vanderbilt, whereas Norris signed. As of this year Norris has already made MLB starts, and pitched out of the bullpen last season. He is currently pitching in AAA. Beede on the other hand has just recently been promoted to AA, making only one AA start to date.

Your top College pick is typically going to start their pro career out in A-ball or High A. A HS signee who succeeds is most likely going to be further than that after three seasons (the College kid's NCAA career).

Go back and look at the other top HS picks from that 2011 Draft who ended up signing:

Dylan Bundy: Made MLB, unfortunately blew out elbow
Bubba Starling: Bust, still in AA however
Archie Bradley: Pitching in MLB
Javier Baez: Played 52 MLB games last year, currently in AAA
Francisco Lindor: Made AAA last season, still in AAA this year
Brandon Nimmo: Made AA last season, still in AA this year
Jose Fernandez: Elite MLB starter before blowing out his elbow
Taylor Guerrieri: Only in High A because of blown elbow, would be much higher otherwise
Joe Ross: Made MLB debut this season
Blake Swihart: Made MLB debut this season
Robert Stephenson: Pitching in AA since last season

As you can see, the guys who weren't complete busts are pretty much all ahead of Beede on the developmental path, with many of them already either currently playing in the MLB or having MLB experience under their belt.
