Ive explained how this article is bullshite a couple of times but gladly do it again.
1. TAMU claims 250,000 living alumni
2. A poll of adults in Texas found that 22% of Texas identify themselves as TAMU fans
3. The population of Texas is 27 million. 22% of 27 million is 6 million
4. 4% of 6 million is 250,000
Thus even if you said that every single living TAMU alumni lived in Texas only 4% of the TAMU fan base is alumni.
You can do this with Alabama and Auburn. Georgia Those are the only ones I know of but I haven't looked for any others. Basically it boils down to this. The amount of sidewalk fans is such a huge portion of every fanbase that the differences in the schools is really small.

That is obviously referring to graduates, and even then, that's a very conservative estimate. if TAMU has only 250K alumni I'd bet that would put the average life expectancy below 65

Faulty math. Maybe 22% of college football fans in Texas are A&M fans, but not all Texans answered the poll or are college football fans (or are on Facebook).
I suspect the ATM numbers represent a large, loyal alumni base along with a University that has little appeal outside Texas and is overshadowed by the flagship school (longhorns) within its own state. Exactly the opposite effect from Georgia's numbers. Auburn's numbers versus 'Bama likely reflect 'Bama's greater national appeal plus it also is the flagship school within Alabama.
