I've lived in Alabama my entire life and I never knew there was a Govenor's mansion on the coast until the dumbass OP started this thread.

I think the point would be that the property being in such a state of disrepair would negatively effect the home values in the area.
There are zoning laws in many places that don't allow this type of thing.
