Tuberville 2.0 minus the domination of Bama. Some really, really good years (2004, 2013), some what the?! years (2008, 2014), but mainly just consistently good. Tubs finished as west division champ 2x, SEC 1x, one unbeaten season, and averaged 8.5 wins per year at AU (nearly 9 wins per year if you eliminated the last season). He had 8 consecutive winning seasons, 2 10+ win seasons, and four seasons of 9 wins. Good tenure, not great, but top 1/3 of the SEC during his time.
ETA: one major difference: Malzahn will actually recruit. AU fans won't have to make comments about a guy "fitting our system" as long as Gus is there. That guy gets after it on the recruiting trail in a way Tubs didn't for the last 3-4 years at AU.
