I think Gus is a good coach and he can be a successful coach. My biggest concern about him is that he is a very intuitive, call it on the fly, go with your gut coach.

Most of the time he does great with that style. He does, however, seem to have a couple of games each year where he doesn't fall into that comfortable rhythm or he falls out of it and then his offense tends to stall. Every team has bad offensive games every now and then, but with the style of play he is comfortable with Auburn has to score points and a buttload of them.

We know he can get hot with the right team and make a serious run for a national title. We also know that when things aren't clicking the record can really drop off. He's still worth it for Auburn.

I actually agree a lot with this & honestly that matches AU football too. We get hot some years & go undefeated then bust in others. The key really is can he field a respectable defense. In 2010 that defense forced turnovers & always made the last stop. 2014 defense could never force the last stop. He doesn't need top 10 defense. Top 50 defense & his offense will put us in the race for SEC title every season.

Honestly though 8-5 is disappointing other than the UGA game we were in every single one of those games. Other team just made one more play than us. That's gonna happen in the SEC. He has to show some kind of consistency though to be taken seriously moving forward. I think this is a 10 win team if the defense performs at the level I think it can (which is basically a mid range SEC defense).

Just ridiculous the level of coaching talent in the SEC West though
