I have my professional engineering license, yet apparently I wouldn't be able to vote.

I would be ok with some kind of test that proves they know who they are voting for. Or they have to answer some multiple choice questions about a lot of the topics and depending on their answers, they get results showing a compatibility percentage of all of the candidates. Could possibly help get rid of the two party system if people actually know they think along the same lines as some of the 3rd party candidates.

My recommendation is easier than the literacy tests that used to be given the blacks in the South. See the linked video.

I was actually trying to go easy with that question. If it were totally up to me, I would require people to be able to solve a problem along the lines of:

A vehicle is travelling at exactly 30 m/s. A person in the vehicle fires a gun in the precise direction that the vehicle is traveling. The bullet leaves the barrel of the gun travelling at exactly 1000 m/s with respect to the barrel. Calculate the initial velocity of the bullet with respect to the ground, taking Special Relativity into account. Calculate the distance the bullet will travel before it hits the ground if the bullet's initial height above the ground is 4 m. Assume the acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s^2. Neglect the effects of friction and assume the ground is flat.

An exam with questions like that would still be easier than those literacy tests.

If anyone can't answer this question they should be deported.

Answer: This is America, we don't use the metric system here. GTFO you commie bastard!
