So you insinuate that Texas forced Arkansas out of the SWC?

Texas was looking to leave the conference in the mid 80s. They lied SWC members, Arky and A&M caught wind of it and started talking to the SEC so they didnt get fricked while y'all ran off to do your own thing. Tech and Baylor freaked, got politicians involved and that's how we ended up with the Big 12.

Exactly.

What the Texas fans don't get is that the whole "Nebraska and A&M voted for uneven revenue sharing" actually hurts their argument. We did vote for a system that unevenly paid revenue based on TV appearances. I don't mind admitting that. It was supposed to be a meritocracy. We liked that at first.

But Texas shot meritocracy in the head when they signed that LHN deal, and ESPN was willing to give Kansas an UNEARNED TV appearance just to help LHN distribution. And to do that ESPN traded a Tier 1 spot for a Tier 2 spot with Fox so that game could guaranteed be on the LHN. And it wasn't a one year deal, that was an every year deal.

That is NOTHING like PPV, which takes leftover games as decided during the season based on merit and tries to make a little money on them. The LHN got to pick its "leftover" game before the season began based on what would sell the network. ESPN needed to know what the game would be on the LHN before the season to push the LHN to cable companies. That is how an obvious Tier 2 game with Ole Miss ended up on the LHN instead of Fox Sports 1, ESPN again did a backroom deal with Fox.

Because of the LHN the revenue sharing model the Big 12 operated under from the start was destroyed. What we and Nebraska agreed to was undone. The Big 12 HAD TO move to a model that shared Tier 1 and 2 evenly because the merit was gone- instead was the LHN needed was the new standard.

Texas fans point to those votes as if to say "look, Aggy was greedy too," as if that makes it all right. They ignore that the LHN undid everything the conference was until that point because that makes Texas seem like the bully it was.

The truth is Texas felt like it was owned something for "saving" the Big 12, and so they didn't bother asking anyone's opinion before they signed the contract demanding three games because they felt they were "owed" that. Their plan backfired when the high school games were banned from the network and we actually left, and now they want to be revisionists saying "well everyone in the Big 12 was greedy and we only have one vote."

It is intellectually dishonest bullshite. Its All their fault and everyone knows it. Even if they don't know all I know, they know that the LHN was not a fair deal for everyone.

They tried to build a moat around their brand and it failed. They need to admit and accept that.
