I remember when you guys came to Alex Box three years, the starters seemed all to be freshman. I thought this would be the BIG year for you guys with the freshman now seniors.
What happened to the roster and the team for this season? Did you have a number of guys leave early or I am wrong and three seasons ago there were a larger number of sophs who have now graduated?

Ham, that is harsh. I was just wondering why they did not have a great season like I had anticipated they would have when I saw them playing in BR three years ago.

Have you ever known a good pitcher that stayed 4 years? Ross Mitchell is a Senior but he throws so slow that the new ball has really stolen his game. I don't know who the other "freshman" were.

I.E. I don't know how to intelligently approach the question so I will sling shite.

Reckon he is talking about Stratton (Junior), Holder (Freshman), Graveman (Soph) and Lindgen (prob Freshman). I think Stratton is AA, Holder will prob be in the Majors, Graveman is in the Majors and Lindgren almost got to the Majors his first year and will prob make it this year.

The Op asked a legitimate question then like clockwork Ham I Ham comes and shits on it. That's what I was speaking to.
But yes. You nailed it. No one saw this derailment coming.
The new ball killed Mitchell. And timely hits and confidence just disappeared.

I recall the SS that season being a great player and I believe he left after last season. You guys had a really large guy at first that I also thought was a freshman that year.
I just recall the series and when the MSU players pics were being shown on the large screen I was thinking damn, those kids look young

laughing.....if he is still on the team it will certainly seem like he has been on the roster forever

Diamondawg can break it down much better than I can but we have some fundamental flaws.
Cohen will be watched hard next year. Been rough being a State fan since October.

Adam Frazier would have been the SS 3 years ago. He and Hunter Renfroe left as Juniors after the NC runner up season in 2013. Seth Heck was our SS last year but has moved to 3rd in something of a surprise move to me. But Gridley has done pretty well at SS. Wes Rea at 1st would have been a RS Soph, I believe. He was a 4 or 5* OL out of Gulfport in HS but chose to play baseball.

quote:Confidence - or lack, there of. Starters have to get into the 7th to even have a chance but we can't produce runs. We can often hit but can't get timely ones. I do think that this team was recruited thinking old ball (small ball) but with the new ball it doesn't necessarily translate. When the bullpen is called upon - here's an example: Dakota Hudson came in a couple of weeks ago. He throws mid 90s. First two, he blows by them and gets 2 Ks. Walk, walk, hit batsman. Story of our season.

Yep. Bases loaded and getting no runs and called strike 3 with the bat on the shoulder seemed to happen a lot.
The leadership seemed lacking and the energy has been off a lot. I hope Cohen adjusts to the changes and gets us back competitive.
