Cumberland, KY in Harlan County once had two cops who loved to beat the shite out of everybody they stopped. One night they stopped a 45-year-old man for apparently no reason at all. After beating him senseless, they filed a report that the man had left his car and "rushed" them. This was before dash cams and phone cameras.

Their nightly fun of bullying the populace came to an end when the man recovered. He made an emergency call to the police saying there was a theft underway at his residence, knowing that those two cops were the only ones on duty in the small town.

They responded quickly, hoping I suppose, for an opportunity to put down a legitimate perp. When they parked in his yard and stepped onto his porch the victim of warrantless police brutality shot both dead.

We all have lines in our lives that, when crossed, cause us to ignore social outlets. The man was arrested and convicted on two counts of murder but there wasn't a lot of mourning for the two criminals in uniform.

What did the witnesses say?

He certainly doesn't sound like someone who might possibly have been the aggressor in an interaction with police.
