You are getting a guy who in Dallas had massive trust issues, an ego the size of the moon, and was so paranoid he banned Dirk Nowitzki's personal shooting coach from Maverick facilities. He forced out assistants b/c he thought he could do it on his own. He blamed players for everything wrong while taking credit for everything positive. He alienated every single player and damn near every single member of the Mavs organization in his brief stint as HC. He wore out his welcome so completely that he was only able to last 3 full seasons and was canned just 2 years after coaching the team in its first NBA Finals. The players had such little respect for him that most of the team went out to celebrate Josh Howard's birthday in NOLA during the middle of a playoff series instead of staying at the team hotel. He coached an EXTREMELY slow brand of basketball which artificially raised the team's defensive stats while running an offense (once he booted Del Harris) that was so predictable that teams didn't even need to change their defensive gameplans from game to game.
