I mean, it's like he takes it as insulting that someone, somewhere, may believe in something he doesn't.
Maybe he feels that if can convince enough people to think like he does, in the event that he's wrong, he'll have some company in the fiery depths of Satan's anus.

Not at all. I have mentioned many times my beliefs and the contradicting beliefs of those I admire.
