Do you know how anything works? We are not talking SECrant people here. The USM/MSU/
Valley/JSU people are not going to vote based on school loyalties on something this big. These people are appointed for 12 year terms (which is too long in my opinion). Dan knew the rules when he took the job. He knew the rules when was VC at UMC. IHL doesn't rubber stamp everything that comes their way - but, it's not based on school loyalties. To think otherwise is just foolish.

I didn't say it was. I didn't even say I disagree with their decision. I'm not even saying that the IHL doesn't have it's own useful place in overseeing the state's schools. Approving real estate purchases, audits, financial oversight, etc.. are all fine by me.

I just think it's ignorant to have non ole miss people deciding what's best for the university when it comes to naming the Chancellor. That'd be like if congress had the right to elect a governor of their choosing when one governor's term was up.

I get it's the law/rules/policy/whatever but I just think it's busted.
