Not saying Marshall will accept it, but we are going to make a strong offer to him. Mighty tough to turn down $3.5 million.

While I'd love to get Marshall, I don't think we have a realistic shot of landing him. Heard several talkin' heads saying there's no chance Marshall would leave for Bama...but, more than that, reading this CBS article makes me think our chances are nil:

LINK

Some snippets from that article:

quote:

"One place, and I don't want to say which place, but one place offered me so much money and I basically just told them, 'I don't care how much money there is; that money won't help me sleep when I'm losing,'" Marshall said. "Winning is what I really like to do. I'm fine financially. My drug is winning."

quote:

"The only way I'd leave for [a power-conference] job would be if I had an opportunity to fight on solid ground," Marshall said. "I would want to fight on equal footing." Translation: Don't call unless you're an AD with one of the best programs in whatever league you reside -- like Wichita State is in the MVC. Otherwise, you're wasting everybody's time.

quote:

But I'm not sure most realize the opportunities Wichita State provides. For instance, nobody can ever tell Marshall he can't get a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, make a Final Four, host ESPN's GameDay, sign top-100 recruits or earn $2 million a year at Wichita State because "those are things I've already done," Marshall said.

If Battle ultimately ends up getting Marshall to come here, it'd be a major coup...

According to BOL's top guy 15 minutes ago, Alabama is going to make Marshall say no. To the tune of up to $4 million. Then it is on to Crean.. Though he referenced buyout concerns.
