I'm not sure if that's a celebratory occasion. I mean, the less the better on a coaching search thread,.

: sad banana:

True, but this has to be a record for the Bama board. Pretty sure you could add up all of the football threads for this upcoming season on the first page, including the recruiting thread, and it wouldn't equal the posts in this thread. Has this ever happened before?

Not sure. I only posted on the round table until a few months ago. I lurked, but never that closely.

This is the most interest our basketball program has had in awhile. I think the other big hires in the SEC have shown us that simply being average can't cut it anymore. I like that.

The game just got very interesting. Kentucky is about to go down.

Not to forget, the access to sec game nationwide. The TV network is about to be a key to national exposure for recruiting. It also needs a good original product for it to be successful. And sec vs cupcakes isn't enough cut it. Basketball has the potential for huge revenues.

Contrary to many posters on here, I believe that we can have a top basketball program. Consider how shitty we were at football not too long ago. We finally realized that we had to get our shite together, and went out and spend a frick ton of money to get the best coach available.

Sure, Marshall turned us down. But I think if we could snag Avery Johnson that that would instantly energize the fanbase and bring some positive momentum to our program and the recruiting class.

When is NSD for basketball?

He overpronunciates some words and then underpronunciates others, all with a southern accent. You never know what to expect, and then he smiles and shows every single tooth in his mouth

I feel like his demeanor would work a lot better in college than in the NBA. Maybe it's just me though. I definitely think he could work a crowd and fanbase

I know they've been a dumpster fire for awhile so I hesitate to blame him for anything.

They went 14-14 with him in 2012-2013 and 35-19 after they fired him.

That's not good.

I completely agree. His personality send much better suited for college. I've heard him referenced as an old school disciplinarian. Considering he's worked with Greg Pop and a Don Nelson, he's from some incredible coaching trees.

And watching that video made me laugh. He's been away for awhile, but Avery is old school New Orleans to the bone. Friendly as hell, but will do a 180 in a second if you say/do something wrong. He'd be a great change after Grant.
