(Every Texas cable provider already pays and Kansas doesn't have any appealing markets to add).

Kansas would add about the same amount of subscribers to the SECN as Arkansas or Mississippi.

It wouldn't be a huge increase in money but there are still nearly 3 million people in that state.

Which is why adding a North Carolina school makes better sense. North Carolina has a total population of almost 10 Million. The next logical state is Virginia with over 8 million people. There's more potential for subscriber fees in both of those states than there is in adding Kansas or Texas.

Even Oklahoma would make a better case over Kansas with almost 4 million people.

I'm not denying that Texas would add to the image of SEC football, but for basketball? No way. Football is the money maker and I highly doubt the SEC is actively seeking to fix its basketball image via expansion. Maybe this "insider" is mistaking one of the many contingency plans the SEC has for an actual goal. I'm sure the SEC even has contingency plans to add Big East schools in case it implodes.
