Hypothetical: How Much Would A Win vs Kentucky Help Seeding?

So say we do the improbable and beat Kentucky Tuesday, do we jump to a seven or six seed? Right now we're a projected 8 or 9 seed which I'm not a fan of. Frankly I would want 10 over 8 or 9.
If we do win out the regular season do we need a run in the SEC Tourney to breakthrough to the 7 or 6 seed

IF UGA beats UK (Which they probably won't even though i'll give them more of a chance than that POS Dog4life) and they beat AU, I could see them moving as high as a 6 probably landing at a 7. People also have to remember, rankings for Tournaments are more than what you've done during the regular season, conference tournament, etc. It involves team history in the tourney, fan support, national match-ups to draw attention, just to name a few.

We finish 2-0, then advance to the semis in the SECT, we would likely be a 6ish seed. Keep in mind, before playing UK again and potentially higher people in the SECT, our SOS is 4th by ESPN and 33rd on the RPIs SOS ranking

If we go 2-0 to close the regular season then go 2-1 in Nashville (losing to Kentucky in the semis) I think we'd be a 6 seed.
I still think there's a chance we could get a 7 seed without beating UK. Loss Tuesday then win at Auburn. Win on Thursday and Friday of the SEC tourney (Friday would be against a tourney team like LSU or A&M) then loss to Kentucky in the semis. I think we'd be looking at a 26ish RPI in that scenario and maybe a 7 seed.
I think that's realistic and obviously way better than being an 8 or 9 seed.

Finish 2-0 and then 2-1 in Nashville with loss being UK under 10 points and we are a 5 maybe a 4.

No way we move up that much. There are just too many better looking teams. We would literally need every underdog to win early conference tourny matchups across the country. While RPI would potentially be low 20s, we wouldn't be ranked and the committee would punish us for those crappy losses we have on our resume

The committee sometimes has issues with making seeding based on emotion. I remember when when finished 17-15 with the #1 SOS and the fawned over us for no real good reason but wanting to reward the #1 SOS.

We will definitely jump up a seed line by beating Kentucky. Nothing occurs in a vacuum though, and we'd drop back down by losing to auburn.
Performing exactly as expected throughout the rest of the season plus beating Kentucky would move us up a lime though, for sure.

What a pansy arse...making comments in a separate thread talking shite and too afraid to chime in on the actual thread.

In thinking about all this something I realized is that in my time of watching UGA hoops (mid 90s to now) the committee has been pretty generous to the Dawgs. Tubby's second year in Athens (96-97) we got a 3 seed when most of the speculation was that we'd be a 5 or 4. Then you had Harrick's 01-02 team that made the tournament with I think a 17-15 record. We did have the #1 strength of schedule, but that was still a 50/50 chance of us getting in if I remember correctly.
Even Fox's second year I felt we got a pretty good break getting that 10 seed when we seemed like one of the last teams that was gonna get in, and we faced Washington in the first round up in Charlotte which was obviously a break for us.
Not saying we didn't deserve those seedings, but in hindsight the committee has treated UGA well in recent years. Not that I think that has anything to do with what happens this season. I'd love to get a 7 seed for sure though.

IMO, it all depends on what happens with our competition as much as it does us. For the sake of my argument I'm going to say that we win out.
Right now we are the #5 seed in the SECT, meaning in the semi final we play Kentucky. LSU will probably be beaten by Arkansas which gives us the #4 seed. The #4 seed still has us playing Kentucky in the Semi's. If Texas A&M loses to Florida or Alabama this week, LSU loses, and we win out we are the 3 seed.
If we are the #3, #6, or #7 seed we wont see Kentucky until the SEC Championship game. If we are the #4 or #5 seed we will see them in the Semi's.
If we want a higher seed in the tournament we have to beat Kentucky, and we need Alabama to beat A&M and Arky to beat LSU. Then we have Kentucky in the Championship game. If we can beat Kentucky right before the SEC championship game and we are playing for a championship anything can happen in the SEC tourney.
Also, its worth noting that if we are the #5, #6, or #7 seed it will take 4 games to win the SEC championship where as the #3 or #4 seed will take 3 games. I think if we went 3-1 that'd increase our seeding. Just my opinion though.

Just to let you know, we cannot be the #7 seed in the SECt. I couldn't care less about playing Kentucky in the semis vs championship game. I'd rather play UK in the semis and lose to them, then potentially losing to Arkansas or TAMU....
Like I said, if we win out and lose in the semis, we will be a 6 seed....maybe a 7.
My guess is we lose to Uk, beat Auburn, win one in Nashville, then lose. Take an 9 seed with Virginia being the 1 seed if we beat the 8.
I'm very excited that we are going to make the tourny this year with a chance to make it to the 2nd round. Obviously it would be ideal not to play a #1 seed, but oh well. At least we made it!!!
