The hottest conference rivalry UK has ever had was with Tennessee when Ray Mears was the coach at UT. It was white hot. Second hottest rivalry was with LSU under Dale Brown. It was more fun than anything, though. I really liked Dale Brown.

The most intense rivalry UK has ever had was out of conference. Indiana under Bob Knight and UK under Joe B. Hall was a bitter battle every year. I doubt it could ever be equaled.

^This. A lot of Tennessee fans don't understand that Bruce Pearl is a shadow compared to the giant personality of Ray Mears. I wasn't there but I've seen and read enough about Mears to know. CBP resurrected about a 10th of Mears' showmanship while he was here and things were getting hot again and I think Tyndall will heat up as well when he gets a roster.

The giant border we share, kith and kin, as well as the lopsided poundings we give each other in football and basketball, keep the rivalry heated even when it's not competitive. I was shocked at how many fans turned out at TBA with UT closed and Knoxville hammered by snow and ice and Kentucky hit just as hard (harder in some spots).
