Basically LSU acted within the rules, but the kid changed his mind.
Somehow that makes it an LSU violation?

not exactly. There are contact rules which LSU circumvented. They did so knowing the kid was looking around. And it isn't like he flipped out of the blue in December. He spent the whole fall visiting other schools. Hell he didn't even enroll early which means LSU broke the rules even if he had signed with LSU.
This isn't about someone changing their mind. It's about LSU using the FAA to be cavalier with the contact rules
