I was responding to an earlier poster justifying aTm's relevance. And yes it is about the past. These resources your team is relying on were there in the past just under utilized. With the exception of being a part of the SEC. So regards to the topic of the OP or the link in the OP, I see nothing to demonstrate that aTm is in the best position now or will be in the future. Unless being in the SEC currently is the Mecca of coaching.

The list is what are the best coaching jobs in the country, not what school has experienced the most success. A&M underperformed relative to our resources (at least since the 70's).

If a particular coach (Fran/Sherman) fails to leverage the advantages he has, then that's on him. It's got nothing to do with the quality of the job. If you look at all the factors that go into producing circumstances which enable a coach to have success, A&M is top 10.

And yes, we lucked into some of that. We absolutely lucked out that UTx turned up their nose at the SEC. I don't know if the SEC is the Mecca of coaching, but it IS the Mecca of blue-chip recruits. And being the only SEC school in Texas is an enormous advantage over all our in-state recruiting rivals, even UTx.
