Not even taking my AU fandom into account, the woman sounds like an insufferable count.
I would not have called her a bitch to her face in public, but I would have been defensive and pissed.
My point of view is coming from having a brother in law who is a veteran with PTSD who has been trying for a year to get into a program to get one of these therapy dogs. Their purpose is to help them cope in public/ social situations and make it easier to talk to people.
Anyway, I'm sure her PTSD caused her to act out, I've seen situations like this play out. But the was she has been acting after the fact is what leads me to believe she's just a count and likely relishes the victim role.
Bash me all you want, idc, but I side with the players. I think they took it a step too far, but I think both parties are in the wrong and should apologize.

I am holding off judgment since the woman doesn't seem to be the one pushing this hard. She may have had pent up frustration and taking it out on the players who responded poorly (understandable)
Additionally, when most people freak out they don't realize just how bad their freakout is. She legit may believe she was just being authoritative instead of rude.
When she starts pushing this story hard and doing interviews/reports, that is a red flag.
