STARKVILLE – In a showdown of the state’s top two receivers, Starkville’s A.J. Brown came out on top Friday night.
The four-star Yellowjackets wide-out racked up a career-high 16 receptions for 176 yards to lead No. 6 Starkville to a 20-7 win over No. 3 Oxford in the third annual Little Egg Bowl.
Brown, a Dandy Dozen wide receiver, averaged close to a first down per catch. The Chargers threw their best at him, including matchups with fellow Dandy Dozen receiver and Ole Miss commit D.K. Metcalf, who converted to cornerback in an attempt to contain Brown.
“They played man-to-man. I don’t get that too often,” Brown said. “When they go man-to-man we just need to take advantage. Man-to-man, I think I can go against any corner in the nation.”

Patton, you can't argue with this guy. He's the worst. He has too much time and imagination. Just ignore him

30 receptions in two games so far this year. Monster! TI still thinks we lead as of this morning. Says he still says he wants to get out of Starkville. We'll see.

Sure hope he goes to Bama and not all the cheating scum programs throwing out money left and right. We lead by a lot but EMCC has been seen offering him an Apache helicopter full of gold krugerrands

Momma and daddy told you you could be anything you wanted to be, and you give them THIS?

According to DrewD, one name to keep an eye on is Blake Williams, TE from Oklahoma. He didn't play football the past couple seasons due to some kind of nerve disease. The condition has been treated, and he's back to playing football again. He showed out at our camp and a couple other camps, running sub 4.6 40's at each stop. We apparently love his athleticism and are going to be monitoring him. If the coaches like him enough, don't be surprised if another TE commit drops off the list and we add Williams. He's not even in the 247 database that I can find, but the feeling is that he has a very high upside. Very similar physically to the 5* TE, Nauta. About 6'4" 227 pounds.

I guess we should hope he doesn't have a great visit there before he commits a few days later. Distance-wise, I have to feel good about it.

Clinton quarterback Cam Akers had four touchdown passes in the first half, en route to a 52-17 victory over host Ridgeland Friday night.
The Arrows scored on their first five possessions and led 38-0 before Ridgeland got on the scoreboard on a 35-yard pass from J.P. Elkins to Joshua Richard at the end of the first half. Akers finished 13-of-18 passing for 181 yards and added 61 yards on the ground. Darius Maberry ran seven times for 97 yards and two TDs for the Arrows, who evened their record at 1-1.

The 2015 college football season kicks off in less than a week, but we always keep an eye on national signing day here at Bleacher Report. Plenty of premier prospects enter their final high school campaigns uncommitted, creating opportunities for programs to make a push in their respective recruitments.
While surveying an array of available young talent, it quickly becomes apparent how much teams covet particular targeted athletes. Ongoing communication with coaching staffs and official visits will eventually determine who ends up where next year.
We examined every squad in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 poll, determining which prized prospects present the most intrigue for each team. Here's a look at the players programs must focus on in the coming months and how they could make an impact at these universities as early as 2016.

3. Alabama
Key Recruit: 5-star offensive lineman Greg Little
High School: Allen (Allen, Texas)
247Sports Composite Rankings: No. 1 offensive tackle; No. 2 overall
Other Contenders: LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M
Much of Little's time in the national spotlight was spent as a Texas A&M commit. The dazzling 6'5½", 305-pound blocker pledged to the Aggies before his junior season and head coach Kevin Sumlin expected him to join former Allen High School quarterback Kyler Murray in College Station next year.
The country's top-rated offensive recruit altered that narrative in July, decommitting from Texas A&M.
"At the time he committed, he knew that was the place he wanted to be," Little's mother, Terry Lacy-Little, told B/R's Damon Sayles. "Fast-forward [to now], he felt it was too early in the process to commit. Because this is such a life-changing event, he feels he has to go through the recruiting process to evaluate where he wants to go."
Alabama certainly isn't lacking for quality talent along the offensive line, but Little is a rare athletic specimen up front. He projects as an instant-impact player, much like 5-star 2014 Crimson Tide signee Cam Robinson, whom Little could replace at left tackle in a couple of years.

Has he even mentioned MSU lately? I've not even known them to be in the top 4 at any point in his recruitment.
