If the content was pushed as hard where a majority of the content is focused on it, absolutely. And of course here they're expected to take trips to the Muhammed Ali Center and to Stage One for plays and that's even more time out of the classroom. If parents wish to do that with their children outside of the classroom the so be it. But at this point that much time shouldn't be dedicated to one particular history month.

And that's the issue. Whether it's a week or a month's worth of content when you work in a low performing school you need every little bit geared towards the test (and I do have issues with the test as well but that's a whole other discussion).

But you take off a week for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas and a week for spring break. That's a month right there when you aren't doing anything. Should you cut out that vacation time to prepare for these standardized tests?
