I don't know why anybody would complain. If Black History Month has any negative impact on your life, you take things too seriously.

All I complained about was that it should be (as with anything else) integrated into the curriculum throughout the year in schools instead of taking away from instruction directed towards the standardized testing that in this state defines whether a teacher will keep their job. Having proctored during the KPREP here, there is very little Black History Month content on the test unfortunately. So you're telling teachers (and they really push it here) they have to give up instruction days for celebration field trips and such.

So yes, I have an issue with it.

I think it is good for kids today to learn about some of the social injustices that occurred in our country. Is designating a month to that cause the best way about it? Probably not, but it definitely raises awareness.

America is general tends to forget about the dark spots on our resume. Native Americans, Civil Rights, etc.
