Several articles from the Tennessean's trial coverage. They covered it fairly well. That said, the Tennessean has an article limit - but hey there's only a few days left in this month. Also, several local tv stations, especially in Middle Tennessee covered the trial in depth and included many quotes from it.

I appreciate you and piggilicious chiming in with your substantive posts.

I hadn't followed the trial so I'm just now catching up.

I see that Batey actually apologized to the victim in court. Did Vandenburg admit any fault at all?

You're definitely welcome and I agree that Piggilicious has provided some good info.

As to any apology... To my knowledge Vandenburg hasn't apologized. Batey's apology is a bit unusual in that it happened on the stand - attorney's often tell clients to STFU when it comes to that even when it's an apology based on an car accident. IOW, Batey had to go against the advice of his attorneys. When apologies happen in the trial phase, it's almost ALWAYS either during the sentencing phase or later.

As to Vandenburg... when the verdict was read he shook his head 'no' like it was bullshite and his father had an 'outburst' and abruptly left the courtroom after the verdict was read. No word yet on what that outburst entailed. For his part, Batey did his best to remain stoic and kinda just stared ahead.

I think Batey feels bad about what happened but Vandenburg, the psychopath, doesn't feel an ounce of remorse.
