Should be a spin-off thread...Of the people who believe he existed, how many think he was just an ordinary person.

Why? Why even ask the question?

I mean 2000+ years later he has 2 billion plus followers.

He was obviously not "just an ordinary person."

I think the better question would be, for all atheists especially ... is what do you really have against Jesus? In his teachings, what do you disagree with? For that matter, in the Bible, what is it exactly that you so vehemently disagree with?

What?

The Ten Commandments?

Turn the other cheek?

An eye for an eye?

Love thy neighbor?

What?

And 1350 years later Muhammad has 1.5 billion followers, but clearly both figures cannot have been divinely inspired as their messages are mutually exclusive.

Why does one have to disagree with his social/moral teachings to believe he wasn't God? This is a false dichotomy.

What about hitting your kid with rocks until they're dead because they were disrespectful?

Do you believe these?

If you do how do you feel about war or the death penalty?

Why single out atheists?

Why not question followers of Hinduism, Shamanism, Confucianism, Buddhism, Animism, or any of the MANY other beliefs that predate christianity?
