I'm just glad the Aggies joined so now all those Texas fans are forced to have SEC network. And yes, bama has pulled weight the last few years. It may be a different team in 5 years. Who knows

Me too. Heck I don't mind paying for theirs as it got us here.

And it won't be different in five years. All this stuff is locked in for a decade plus with contracts.

Now 20 years out you might be right. Maybe by then cord cutting has killed major cable as a revenue stream for ESPN and the SEC Network goes subscription only. At that time Tennessee's old brand and ratings matter to help people pay X per month directly rather than a hidden charge on their cable bill.

Until then the only way Tennessee can help is to crank out cable subscribers, or suck so hard that your games are all at a Teir 3 level.

I like Tennessee so I hope option 2 doesn't happen.
