So a position coach has the same accountability as a DC now?

Who is in charge of the performance of the defense? The defensive coordinator. Ellis and the staff he had assembled were not getting the job done. Alabama's defense was sub par this year, who takes responsibility for that? A position coach? Or should it be the DC along with the HC who is very involved in the defense?
