OM returns the 3rd most starters in the SEC behind Vanderbilt and Tennessee. We return 9 out of 11 starters on off losing Sanders and Wallace. Sanders, while reliable, will be replaced by more talent. Only time will tell what happens at QB. We return 7 out of 11 starters on D with 2 of the departures (Bryant and Shackelford) being in somewhat of a timeshare, with leadership being the biggest loss. It is hard to say this about an AA, but losing Golson shouldn’t be a huge loss. Prewitt on the other hand, may be a bigger loss than most people expect. There may not be a huge talent drop there but we need someone on the defense to step up and be able to read the opposing offense and direct others accordingly.

QB:
1. Kelly
2. (a) Kincade; (b) Buchanan
The biggest ? going into the season. It will be very interesting to see what happens here. Kelly could be the spark this off. needs but only time will tell.

RB:
1. Walton
2. (a) Wilkins; (b) Judd; (c) Swinney
Not sure who will get more touches behind Walton. It will be interesting to see how Wilkins progresses and if Judd can be the power back we have needed. Losing Mathers shouldn’t be a prob as I expected Wilkins to pass him on the DC anyway. Swinney, while unproven, should take over Dodson’s spot pretty seamlessly.

Z:
1. Stringfellow
2. Adeboyjo
Having these 2 will be a difference maker in opening up the off. Vince did what was needed from him at this position, but these two offer more big play ability and should be able to take more advantage of 1 on 1 matchups.

X:
1. Treadwell
2. Lodge (if)
The biggest weapon in our off w/ Lodge grooming and offering playmaking ability behind and sometimes alongside the best WR in the nation. I don’t think we get Van now that GA has Schott.

Slot:
1. Core
2. (a) Pack; (b) Harris
Solid production can be expected from this group. Pack could play here or outside.

TE:
1. Engram
2. (a) Liggins; (b) Epps
Evan is a great weapon in this offense. Not too optimistic, but it will be fun to see what Liggins and Epps do this offseason.

LT:
1. Tunsil
2. Richmond(1)
Best Olineman in college football. Will be fighting to be a top 5 pick in the 2015 draft. Drew will be under his wing and most likely fighting for a spot on the right side.

LG:
1. Taylor
2. Morris
Rod should be much improved with a season and whole offseason under his belt. I believe our G play is the biggest ? of the Oline and it needs to improve this offseason to improve the overall effectiveness of the line.

C:
1. Still
2. (a) Bell (1); (b) Conyers (2); (c) Rawlings
Still is serviceable if the G play around him does their job. Conyers is a below avg player with some versatility and a low ceiling. He was the first OLineman off the bench in ‘14 and will hopefully be the 8th this year. With Javon adding depth at G, I would like to see Bell fight for the starting C spot like last year as his lack of mobility hurts him at G. Sean has a chance to be the backup C going forward moving Conyers to T duties full time and keeping Bell at G. I like Sean, but I don’t see this happening just yet. It has been mentioned but I do not expect him to be fighting for the RT spot.

RG:
1. (a) Morris; (b) Bell (2); (c) Patterson
2. (a) Bouldin; (b) Sims
Spot is wide open. I could see a timeshare between Bell and Morris while Javon develops and earns reps throughout the season. They must get in shape this offssn and sadly, I just don’t expect much change out of them. As much as I wish Javon could come in and be the starting RG from the get go, there is a lot of development that needs to occur. Hopefully he comes a long way in the Spring, but I anticipate his playing time will be very slow played. A lot of folks speak about Bouldin being the strongest man on the team, but much more is needed from him if he wants to get consistent reps. Sims has received praise, but as a RSF, he is unproven at this point.

RT:
1. Cooper
2. (a) Conyers (1); (b) Morris; (c) Richmond (2)
I am hoping Morris and Richmond will push Fahn, rather than Conyers, and expect decent production out of this group. Fahn should improve with a SEC season and a spring under his belt, which is common for a JC Olineman. With FC and LT leaving after this year, we should have good competition between Morris, Richmond, Givens and possibly Weathersby going forward. Howard will take some time to develop physically but should enter the mix a few years down the road.

SDE:
1. (a) Ward; (b) Brown
I think Ward makes strides this offseason going into his final year. I am hoping for a Senquez type transformation – meaning the talent is there, but something is not clicking. Fadol should improve a good bit as well after his 1st season in the SEC. Excited to see how G Mac looks this spring. Not sure if he ends up here or at DT. Getting CeCe would be huge here going forward.

WDE:
1. Johnson
2. Haynes
CJ will be solid going into his final year and I am excited to see what Haynes does physically this offseason. CJ will be fighting to make it to the next level. I am also excited to see what Vic does in the spring. I know he has already added a lot of weight.

NT:
1. Gross
2. (a) Jones; (b) Hamilton
Playing time will fluctuate b/t the 3 depending on the opp. If DJ is more of a Jarran Reed than a Hooks, this group could do very well playing alongside a double teamed RN.

DT:
1. RN
2. Speaks
RN is one of, if not the most disruptive DT in the nation. Will be fun to see what Speaks does this offseason. I am hoping he can get in shape and be a force.

Mike:
1. (a) Russell; (b) Lewis(if)
2. Gates
Russel will offer experience, while Leo offers huge upside. Being a solid MLB in the SEC takes time, so Gates needs to continue progressing, which I think he will. If Leo makes it and gets comfortable quick, Gates will be at stinger where he is a much better fit. Leo is a must get/qualify.

Husky:
1. Conner
2. AJ Moore
Tony is a playmaker and one of the most important pieces of the defense. AJ will continue to develop nicely. Will be interesting to see if Buford will develop well here.

Stinger:
1. DN
2. (a) Caldwell; (b) Smith
Should be an average group. Our stinger spot allows a player to shine, but these guys will mainly just do their job. Losing Keith shouldn’t be a big hit if Caldwell comes in and does his job and if Ray Ray progresses. We need to land another OLB in this class to develop behind DN and Terry.

FCB:
1. Bridges
2. Davis
I am hoping with added WR depth, Derrick Jones will be in the mix here more than just in certain situations.

BCB:
1. Shepard
2. Webster
Webster made strides his freshman year and the 4 CBs are interchangeable depending on the opposing WR. If we stay healthy here, the CB production should be unparalleled.

FS:
1. (a) Hilton; (b) Hampton
Think Mike makes this move while CJ continues to learn the ropes. Mike is one of our best open field tacklers and solid with his assignments. CJ has the skill set but must learn the defense like the back of his hand in order to be relied upon consistently. Prew was the def qb and I expect these reigns to go to MH in the early going.

Rover:
1. Elston
2. (a) Brown; (b) AJ Moore
Elston also made big strides this season regarding coverage assignments and that will carry over this year. Having Chief back healthy is key regarding depth as well as AJ Moore’s development.

Best groups: WR, CB, DL
Biggest question marks: QB, OL and depth at LB

If the ?s are answered positively, we will be fielding one of, if not the best OM team in recent memory. After ‘15, we lose 13-17 starters. Future looks bright, but we have an opportunity to make some serious noise in 2015.

Thoughts?

Honestly I have no idea about starting positions until we get our injured guys back to full strength. This is another spring that we need no injuries(lol)

Our OL depth, once again, is terrible for spring practice.

I'm sick of it. Just forget the scrimmage altogether.

Great one man! Really hope the QB and Oline play is there. Could be a remarkable year. Weird to think the offense could hold us back considering it's freeze

Thanks for making this

I agree with everything you said on there. If Ward makes that jump like a lot of us think he will, and Hilton transitions well into that safety spot, that defense is disturbingly good. Holy. frick.

That's been every year under Freeze.

Yeah looks like we will have another Spring "practice" rather than a scrimmage which nobody is a fan of. At least Patterson, Sims, C. Morris and Rawlings will get a lot of needed reps.

Outstanding work. But what makes you think that we will move Liggins from short distance qb to te? (I think it needs to be done by the way.)

He already plays TE most of the time.

Liggins will keep his short yardage QB package with a couple of added varieties, but he will be learning more and more packages at TE as well. He had trouble grasping all his assignments this year. With another offseason his packages at TE will expand.

We need at least two of those to pan out and for Justin Bell to rob JC Penny or something. I would love to open up his scholarship spot considering he's yet to open anything up for a running back in three years.

Yeah I know but I'm being a homer and saying the injuries killed us against TCU. Also the offense didn't hold us back against lsu... Freeze playing conservative did...the Arkansas game was just a sign of the apacolypse nothin we could do

Gross too high.

Taylor will be at RG.

Very possible. I am just biased because I like the idea of him and Tunsil playing on the same side. If we don't have a solid Oline, I am hoping we can sure up one side without having to pull a guard.

If I ask you guys to name the best DL from the Nutt staff we all probably name CJ Johnson, but you could argue Bennett who had a solid career. Carlos Thompson was also able to give some solid minutes.

Now ask yourself the same question about the OL...

Swindall maybe? He was gone this year. Morris and Bell have been the two worst OL on the line. Point is there was nothing there. Freeze started from scratch. Defense had a few pieces.

Just an FYI but Bell is taking this off season seriously. He is working out with the Ole Miss & State players preparing for the draft. Talked to him in the locker room today and seems like a smart kid who knows he has to "up" his game.
