Number 1 ranked "dual threat" QB by Scout in '12.

Ok. So a Dual Threat that rarely ran the ball? Face it. He may have been a Dual Threat in High School, but was a pocket passer in college. In fact, a pocket passer that runs under pressure gets that many yards. He probably rarely if ever ran a designed run play. Lambert ran for 63 yards last season and Mason ran for over 100 yards the season before that. I guess we had two Dual Threat QB's? They came close to what Winston gained on the ground, and since you are arguing he was a DT...

Yea,becuase he wasn't surrounded by 5 stars at WR,OL and RB and HE
was the reason Alabama won and Watson was the reason Clemson lost.

You want to talk about how many excellent teams won without a solid QB? Look at our team the last two years for an example. A Dual Threat QB can get you far, but he can't win a NC by himself. Watson is a perfect example of this. He MIGHT be the best QB in the country right now. (And before you say it.....Clemson had a MUCH better team than we did last year even if you take Watson off Clemson)

So you get to define who's a dual threat and who's not?

Not at all. But statistics will tell you. A Dual Threat is one that is an integral part of the running game. Marshall was on with Auburn. Vince Young with Texas. They both got over 1,000 yards rushing. Do you really want to compare a QB with 200 yards rushing with those two? A Dual Threat should have running plays designed for the QB to run the ball regularly.

And the ONLY reason AU played for it in '13 was Nick Marshall

You are wrong. And every team you mentioned had great players surrounding them.

Of the ones you mentioned I would say Vince Young and Watson elevated their teams to a National Championship and neither of them won. Auburn certainly COULD have made it without Nick Marshall. (Of course, we will never know as both of us are only giving our opinions.

Yea,everybody would love to have a care taker QB like Alabama surrounded by 5
star talent at OL,WR and RB.You can virtually run ANY offense and win.

That's true. But if you don't have that talent surrounding them even the best Dual Threat will not win it. It goes both ways. Dual Threats are exciting to watch, I get it. But they USUALLY do not win you the National Championships. In all cases where a Dual Threat QB won, he was surrounded by the same 5* talent you are talking about.

So what you're saying is that really good teams win championships regardless of whether they have a qb that can run or not? Got it. Glad we can shelve this discussion forever.

Alright. Let's just stop here. You don't think Vince Young won a national championship. I respect your opinions in general, but if we're gonna talk about dual threat QBs on the recruiting board, let's not be blatantly wrong with our information.

Your stats are also off on Lambert and Mason's rushing yards.

Another reason guys like Winston, who I will agree is predominantly a pocket passer, may not have great rushing stats, is that sacks hurt a QB's rushing yards in college. You can also see some of the runs he made last year and this year in the NFL and realize he has some running ability. Coker can run as well for Bama.

In all cases where a dual threat won, they were surrounded by 5* talent

In all cases where any team won they were surrounded by 5* talent. Who has had the worst team outside of their QB that won a national championship recently? I would say Auburn in 2010, but they were still really good. Let's just get off this point. You're making less and less sense the more we talk about this.

Surely you jest.

Not only did Vince Young win, but had the single greatest NC game performance ever. You have disqualified yourself from speaking on college football, are awarded no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
