RPI is supposed to be a SOS rating "and" how well a team does against that schedule.

If State looses all of it's SEC games, then it is possible for the formula God's not to give them that bump. Of course, I don't really know the formula or care. I just know we suck and it's getting worse.

In a sense. It's really a way to compare D-1 teams that never play each other. There are so many teams, it's hard to compare them the same way you do football. RPI is how you do against your own schedule, combined with how everyone else on your schedule does against THEIR schedule.

There are so many connections, everyone ends up playing each other in a way. For instance, the only SEC team to play Oregon was Ole Miss, so because no other SEC teams play Oregon and can't be compared head to head, we gauge our performance against Ole Miss to see how we would likely perform against Oregon.
