Well, to the point of the OP:
I can't say I wouldn't be pissed off in a similar situation.
What is a metaphor we can use for guys to understand?

You bought season tickets to your favorite team when they were really good for $12,000, and find out after the first game that season tickets are now going for $1,000 dollars in the section next to yours.
