Yep. Saban is having to recruit smaller and faster athletes. Hand would be a LB two years ago. The spread and hunh are changing the way defenses recruit. The big negative here is that when you play arky or LSU the smaller players will struggle to stop the run. But what can you do?

one thing that keeps saban on top is his ability to modify his own style.

I really fell for sabans system in the 2003 nc game. when I saw marcus spears (a personal friend I might add) drop back from the DE, and pick off a pass, I absolutely lved the use of the talent.

Yes, the defensive challenge of our time is to stop the HUNH and the Ground-and-Pound with the same defense. Not easy.

Fortunately, both programs pretty much stop themselves these days so it would seem wise to gear up for the spread. Seems those teams are the biggest threats in any sort of title hunt
