Get the one that most of your friends play on
Other things of note:
Xbone is the better all around entertainment console
Playstation is the better pure gaming machine
The playstation controller has improved a lot since ps2/ps3
Xbone is the way to go if you're all about halo and gears of war
Playstation will probably have a lot of exclusives next year you'll want to play.
Discloser- I have a ps4 and love it. But I'll be getting an xbone in the next 6 months. I also have a wii u and a gaming pc

I love my PS4, but I haven't touched it in awhile, just use my gaming PC all the time now until a few of the big exclusives start to roll out.
All comes down to what your friends have so you can play with them, and what exclusives you prefer. All of my friends for example have PS4's, and I prefer the Playstation exclusive games more than Xbox. I also don't pay for TV so that feature for the Xbone is useless to me as I'm a cord-cutter and have an Amazon Fire TV and Chromecast + Plex and one of my buddies lets me use his Dish login to use WatchESPN and other streams.
Upgraded my PC with an R9 290 and a 1440p monitor a few weeks ago.
