Yeah, but let me give you a historical story to explain from UK's point of view.

When Britain applied to join the EEC in the late 60s, Charles de Gaulle bluntly told the British Prime Minister: "you know the problem with your application? At present there are six hens and one cock in the EEC. If Britain joins well, that changes things, because then you will have six hens and TWO cocks. That never works well."

If LSU starts accumulating 5* recruits, then suddenly it assumes the position Britain held applying to the EEC. The SEC has a basketball leader and everyone else needs to know their place!
