Does anyone else hate the targeting penalty?

Those hits are the kind you live for playing football. These players know what they signed up for.

Should definitely be a 15 yard penalty. The ejection penalty is harsh though. Maybe one warning and then ejection would be better?
I do understand the desire to make the game safer. It's a tough balancing act.

Agreed, an ejection is overkill.

Yea because bama always does it and gets away with it, not consistent.

Although the ejected player seemed to give everyone high fives, so he looks like he was down with it.

Shouldn't be a 15 yard penalty, he broke up a pass.

That's a non-sequitur statement.
You could also break up a pass by shooting the receiver with a gun. No 15 yard penalty for that either since he broke up a pass?

I agree with it when it truly is a head to head contact, like spearing. But when slight head contact I dont like.

I don't hate the penalty.

I think the ejection is overboard. Should just be a personal foul in my opinion, with the ability to eject if its really bad.

Well then you have situations like last night where Reggie Nelson has to go low and fricks up Le'Veon Bells knee and the coach bitches about that. Not sure what they want defenders to do.

I'd rather get hit in the knee than the head any day.

It's stupid bc refs can't call it consistently. A guy getting hit hard in the chest could be targeting just because it looked vicious. "Targeting" should not even exist. We were perfectly fine having penalties for a)leading with the crown of the helmet and b)hitting a player in the head. Those both make sense and are clearly definable. "Targeting" seems like it's just whatever refs feel like calling.
When we're playing a game where this:
leads to a 15 yard penalty and a player ejection, something is wrong.

At full speed, it's next to impossible to pull back--in mid-air--from many of those plays.
The one in this game, for example was so close to looking like it was at the shoulder, you couldn't even see the difference in slo-mo.
Ejections in such instances are ludicrous.
