Did I say that? I don't know what mike bobo does on a daily basis with his life. The point is that for someone with his accolades he should damn sure have been making more than he was. Even if he never thought about it or asked for it, any good AD would say "mike, you're doing a hell of a job man and we want to show our appreciation, how bout an X% raise". The fact that we brought in our 4th or 5th choice for DC, a guy who was largely average to poor in the NFL and was actually fired from one gig, and who hadn't been in college ball in 12 years and never as a DC, was given $250K more than bobo right off the bat is simply absurd. There's no other way to spin that...if we felt that grantham commanded $750K to come here, we should've given bobo that much as well.

Many, many coaches get bonuses or raises for good performance. Many non-coaches in the business world do as well.

Hell...for all we know CMG did offer him money to keep him and was turned down. If he'd have offered a $200K/yr bump a year ago would this have kept him? I doubt it.

This happens all the time. The amount you pay somebody to GET them doesn't always equal what you pay folks doing the same or better job that you already have. A "Grade X" pay scheme only applies in government. IMO opinion then it's on Bobo to go "wait a damn minute"...

I would be willing to assume that most bonuses of this nature are written into their contracts. Generic company bonuses are different too than just being given a 50% raise out of the blue.

My only point was that we don't know if Bobo was frequently turned down for more money and frustrated...or just looking for a way to get HC experience.
