Aggies (and some Tigers who remain anonymous), don't seem to comprehend that fact.

Of course, but it doesn't mean he's staying either. FWIW I think he will eventually sign, but it looks like he wants to negotiate more first.

LSU def. coordinator John Chavis wants about what new AU def. coord. Will Muschamp is making, which is roughly $1.7 million over three years

Good, I hope he gets it.
What is Kirby making? Time to drive up his salary next.

Since when does having a contract in college football mean that a coach will stay until its conclusion?

One last time to try to make you understand.

If he doesn't sign shite then it absolutely mean he is staying at LSU.
He's under contract.

You do know that there is no salary cap in college football, right? Paying Chief another $300k-$400k annually doesn't hurt LSU at all. He deserves it and I most certainly agree with the stance he is taking.
When Sumlin got paid so much for doing so little, it messed the market up entirely. Based on performance, Miles deserves a raise in comparison to Sumlin... easily...

Agreed. But when the top salary for more than one coach gets raised that raises the market. A more expensive market for coaches is good for a program like A&M.

I wouldn't call it "messed up." We just raised the market. And others followed- soon after we did it Texas paid a brand new coach $5 million a year.
As I said before, a raised market is good for A&M. Hopefully it will get so high that more successful programs with less money (aka not SEC) won't have a chance to protect their coaches from us (or compete for us for coaches). That will give us an "undeserved" shot at something bigger one day.
College football is one big damn catch 22. You get good coaches and recruits because your program has a history of success. Your program builds a history of success by having the best recruits and coaches. It is a never-ending cycle, and the only way late bloomers like us or an Oregon can break in is on $ and style.

Excellent.
Saban coached teams score at will on Chavis defenses at the end of each half.

I'll just say this, coaching salaries have gotten completely out of control. Will Muschamp's salary at Auburn would have made him a top 5-10 paid HEAD coach 10 years ago. It's just absurd to me what the profession has become in terms of how agents have basically put ADs in a corner in which they really have no real bargaining power. All it takes is one coach getting paid X amount, and then that becomes the standard. I remember being blown away when assistants were even somewhat approaching 7 figure salaries. Guess it's just the nature of the beast but there has to be a breaking point eventually. I just don't see any way salaries can continue to grow at the rate they have over the past 10 years.
