Could people also credit Rich Rodriguez for Bama's success?

Interesting thought.

Would Rich Rod have been successful at Bama? Sucked at UM but has done pretty good at Arizona.

What would have happened to Saban? Assuming he still bailed out of the NFL, what big CFB job would he have taken in or about 2007/2008?

I think somebody is going to have to write a tell-all book about what happened at Michigan before we are able to write that answer. I think Rodriguez is a bit of a fraud in terms of being thought of as an elite coach and has a ceiling as a coach, but he clearly knows how to build a program that wins 7-10 games a year. I don't know what the deal was at Michigan.

Saban would have ended up somewhere where they gave him the power to control the program and do things how he wanted. May very well have been Michigan. Don't think it would have been Notre Dame. Maybe USC.
